Willow Feather Farm offers children from Irene and the surrounding Pretoria Suburbs the opportunity to interact with a variety of animals including turkeys, ostriches, guinea pigs, potbelly pigs and goats. They have a quaint tea garden, a small gift store and provide pre-packed picnic baskets which can be enjoyed in their scenic gardens. They have festive seasonal markets with the next one scheduled on the 27th of November.

There’s plenty to see and do at this attractive, historic farmstead just outside Kommetjie. Among the attractions are the Higgeldy Piggeldy Farmyard, camel rides, a snake & reptile park, and a variety of shops and restaurants as well as a farm stall selling tasty treats made on the farm. The farmyard animals have all been named by children who have visited the farm and their most recent addition to the farmyard is a Springbuck.

Flag Animal Farm is home to over 1000 rescued animals, birds, reptiles, wolves and alpaca. They have daily wolf interaction, milking shows and reptile handling and on weekends children have the opportunity to meet their favourite characters: Barney, Dora, Mickey and Minnie Mouse and Hello Kitty. They were recently awarded the top position in the Best of the Best readers’ choice competition.

Holmeleigh Farmyard is a family owned and run establishment offering wholesome family fun in a beautiful setting along Kragga Kamma Road in PE. Activities include feeding the animals, milking Queenie the cow, experiencing a tractor ride, riding Honey or Silver (the ponies) or captaining the boat, jumping on the jumping castle or climbing up the beautiful wooden tower. Crazy Kidz Farmyard has Randburg’s first and original windmill, making this animal touch farm and party venue a unique place to visit. Exotic ducks, geese, various types of chickens (including some SA Show Champs), a pony, an Emu, a potbelly pig and some bunnies can be found roaming on the well-kept farm. Various play equipment, including a bike track, doll house, climbing wall and large netted trampolines provide heaps of fun for the children to play on once they’ve visited their animal friends. Quite possibly the most scenic animal touch farm in SA due to the surrounding mountains; this beautiful farmyard with well-cared for animals including emu’s, camels, pigs and mini ponies is a delight to visit. Entrance includes bonus viewing of "Rabbit World", Chinchilla, Anaconda, Boa snakes, Gerbils, Guinea Pigs and different types of birds. A visit to Guano Caves Touch Farm is made complete with a visit to their pools, coffee shop and play park.

Rietvlei Zoo Farm is surrounded by natural wetlands, large willow and oak trees and beautiful green gardens, where you can relax, picnic and enjoy the sunshine and outdoors. Activities include enjoying the ducks as they waddle around looking for tit-bits, feeding the farmyard animals from veggie packs you can buy onsite, enjoying the bird aviary or the carnival fun rides, pony rides, tractor cart and mini train rides. This lovely animal touch farm situated in the north of SA has made many improvements in the past year and provides an exceptional learning experience for families and school groups. Children can feed the emu’s, ostriches, goats, sheep, guinea fowl, pigs, cattle and many more different varieties of birds and animals or they can experience a pony or car ride while parents enjoy home-made Mhangela pancakes, delicious cakes and desserts or relax in the beautiful natural surroundings. Although Stodels is actually a plant nursery, Belville Stodels offers far more. The open outside cages at Stodels house a range of interesting animals. Children are able to view and feed the ponies, bearded goats, llamas, rabbits and marmosets. There is also a small duck pond with double gates allowing visitors to go inside and visit the feathery friends. After a visit to the animals children can play on the amazing kids’ playground while parents sip on a cup of coffee at the outside coffee shop. Children can also play on the beautiful train-themed jungle gym, the see-saws, trampolines and jumping castle.
